Power Source Legacy

RangerLegacy

The power source for every team of Power Rangers derives from the Morphin’ Grid.

However, the method on how they connect to the Morphin’ Grid varies between each team.

In this article, we will go through each team of Power Rangers and explain how they are connected to the Morphin’ Grid.

Power Rangers

Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers (Season 1 & 2)
(Dino Power Coins)
The Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers derive their powers from the Power Coins, six dinosaur-themed golden coins that were created by Ninjor.

Five of these Power Coins are found by Zordon & Alpha 5, which were given to five teenagers from Angel Grove while Rita Repulsa had the Dragon Power Coin in her possession, which was given to Tommy Oliver.
The Dragon Power Coin is completely drained by Lord Zedd, destroying the powers forever and is replaced by the White Tiger Power Coin.
The Dino Power Coin are eventually all destroyed after the destruction of the Thunderzord by Rito Revolto.
Despite the destruction of the original Power Coins, they are later used by their former users.
Adam Park (Black Ranger II), Tommy Oliver (Green Ranger/White Ranger), Jason Lee Scott (Red Ranger I), Rocky DeSantos (Red Ranger II) & Billy Cranston (Blue Ranger) all use these power in future battles.

A full team of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers forms to fight a robotic version of Rita Repulsa in 2022, with all original six Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers being active until Jason Lee Scott (Red Ranger I), Kimberly Hart (Pink Ranger I) & Tommy Oliver (Green Ranger) are captured by Robo Rita while Trini Kwan (Yellow Ranger I) is killed in a fight against Robo Rita.

A new team is later formed a year later, consisting of a mix of Power Rangers from all three seasons of the MMPR Era, including original Power Rangers, Billy Cranston (Blue Ranger) & Zack Taylor (Black Ranger I).
Rocky DeSantos (Red Ranger II) & Katherine Hillard (Pink Ranger II) are given Proxy Power Coins, duplicate Dino Power Coins created by Billy Cranston & Alpha 9.

Minh Kwan (Yellow Ranger II), the daughter of Trini Kwan also takes up her mother’s legacy as the third Yellow Ranger.

The Dino Power Coins are used a century before the Original Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, with their ancestors using them when Kimberly Hart time travels to the Old West.

The Dino Power Coins also exist in multiple universes, one of which is nearly identical to the Main Dimension except these suits are armor-like material rather than spandex.

Like the Main Dimension, these Power Rangers are given Ninja Coins after their Dino Power Coins are destroyed by Ivan Ooze.

A similar team of Power Rangers exists in another timeline, where their powers still derive from Dino Power Coins but the armor morphs onto the body like a second skin and requires a deep connection from the Morphin’ Grid for its user to morph into a Power Ranger.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Season 3)
(Ninja Power Coins)
The Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers are given new Ninja Power Coins by Ninjor after traveling to the Temple Of Power after the destruction of their Dino Power Coins.

With these new Power Coins, the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers derive their powers from the art of ninja, giving them the ability to assume an alternate form to perform ninja-styled attacks.
The Ninja Power Coins suffer the same fate as the Dino Power Coins, being destroyed by Rita & Zedd after they blast them with energy, turning them to dust.

Aquitian Rangers
The Aquitian Rangers from Aquitar were given their own Power Coins by Ninjor many years ago, most evident in their ninja-style suits.
The Aquitian Rangers use these powers to defend their planet from various evil aliens like the Hydro Hog & Hydro Contaminator.
They also becomes temporary defenders of Earth after the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers are temporarily turned into children and defend Gratha when it is attacked by Divatox.
Aurico (Red Aquitian Ranger) teams up with the other Red Rangers of the time to fight the Machine Empire Generals on the Moon.

Zeo Rangers
(Zeo Crystal)
The Zeo Rangers derive their powers from the Zeo Crystal, a powerful crystal that becomes more powerful as time goes on.
The Zeo Crystal is introduced to them when the Zeo Rangers were the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, being sought out by Master Vile and is almost used by him to destroy the Earth.
The Mighty Morphin’ Power Ranger are able to obtain the Zeo Crystal for a short time and splits it into six pieces, scattering them across time to prevent them from getting into evil hands.
That is until the Ninja Power Coins are destroyed by Rita & Zedd, which motivates the former Power Rangers to find the Zeo Subcrystals across time and uses them as their power source to fight The Machine Empire and Rita & Zedd.
The fate of the Zeo Crystal remains unknown after the Zeo Rangers shift their powers to the Turbo Rangers.
However, Tommy Oliver (Red Zeo Ranger) uses these powers a few times in future battles.

Turbo Rangers
The Zeo Rangers, despite nothing happening to their powers, create new car-themed powers to fight the Space Pirate, Divatox, becoming the Turbo Rangers.
Four of the Turbo Rangers pass on their power to four new teenagers halfway through this era, leaving Justin Stewart (Blue Turbo Ranger) the only Turbo Ranger to last the entire era.
The Turbo Rangers lose their powers after the Power Chamber is destroyed by Divatox’s Forces.
The power of the Turbo Rangers are not gone for good however due to Justin Stewart (Blue Turbo Ranger), TJ Johnson (Red Turbo Ranger II) & Katherine Hillard (Pink Turbo Ranger I) using these powers in future battles.

Space Rangers
The Space Rangers derive their powers from KO-35, with Andros (Red Space Ranger) & Zhane (Silver Space Ranger) being the defenders of their home planet prior to it being conquered by Dark Specter.
Andros becomes the sole Space Ranger after Zhane is severely injured in a battle until he recruits the four former Turbo Rangers from Earth to fill the rest of the team.
The powers of the Space Rangers continue to be accessible, even after their run as the defenders of the universe, with the Astro Morphers being locked in a room in the Astro Megaship until the return of the Psycho Rangers, where they resume their roles as the Space Rangers.
Andros (Red Space Ranger), TJ Johnson (Blue Space Ranger) & Cassie Chan (Pink Space Ranger) also call upon these powers in future battles.

Galaxy Rangers
(Quasar Sabers)
The Galaxy Rangers derive their powers from the Quasar Sabers, five mystical sabers that were put into a rock on the jungle planet, Mirinoi thousands of years ago.
Four humans from Earth and a native from Mirinoi release the Quasar Sabers from their resting place and use these powers to defend the space colony, Terra Venture from the Insect Warlord, Scorpius, his daughter Trakeena and the Space Pirate, Captain Mutiny until they eventually return to Mirinoi to return the Quasar Sabers to their resting place.
The Galaxy Rangers call upon the powers of the Quasar Sabers again to fight their former foe, Trakeena on Earth with the Lightspeed Rangers.
Leo Corbett (Red Galaxy Ranger), Damon Henderson (Green Galaxy Ranger) & Karone (Pink Galaxy Ranger II) later call upon the powers of the Quasar Sabers to fight in future battles.

Lightspeed Rangers
The power of the Lightspeed Rangers are created by Lightspeed Rescue scientist, Angela Fairweather and are given to five young adults to defend Mariner Bay from demons who desire to rebuild their former palace over the City Of Mariner Bay.
After the Lightspeed Rangers successfully seals away Queen Bansheera, they hang up their helmets but resume duty to team up with the Time Force Rangers to defeat a resurrected Vypra.
Carter Grayson (Red Lightspeed Ranger) & Dana Mitchell (Pink Lightspeed Ranger) resume their duties in future battles.

Time Force Rangers
The powers of the Time Force Rangers were created by Time Force, a time traveling police agency in the future that defends Millennium City from Mutant Criminals.
The original Red Time Force Ranger, Alex is presumably killed in battle, with four Time Force Officers taking his Chrono Morpher and four Chrono Morphers with them to the past to fight the Mutant Criminal, Ransik.
The four Time Force Officers recruits the ancestor of the original Red Time Force Ranger, Wes Collins to become their Red Time Force Ranger, with them eventually capturing Ransik and his prison full of Mutant Criminals.
The Time Force Rangers continue their roles as Time Force Rangers, with four of the Time Force Rangers from the future defending Millennium City while Wes Collins (Red Time Force Ranger) & Eric Myers (Quantum Ranger) defend Silver Hills with the Silver Guardians.
The team reunites to fight the Mut-Orgs with the Wild Force Rangers while Wes Collins (Red Time Force Ranger) is present in various future battles.

Wild Force Rangers
(Wildzords)
The Wild Force Rangers derive their powers from the Wildzords, ancient animal-like zords that live on the floating island, Animaria.
They give a portion of their powers to five young adults from Turtle Cove to defends the Earth from the Orgs, monstrous beings that desire to pollute the Earth.
After the Wild Force Rangers successfully defeat Master Org, they are forced to give their Growl Phones (And Jackets) to Princess Shayla, who returns to her deep slumber until the powers of the Wild Force Rangers are needed once again.

Wind Rangers/Thunder Rangers/Green Samurai Ranger
The Wind Rangers derive their powers from techniques taught at the Wind Ninja Academy.
Three students from each class of the Wind Ninja Academy, Shane Clarke (Air), Dustin Brooks (Earth) & Tori Hanson (Water) become the Wind Rangers to fight the Space Ninja Warlord, Lothor and free all of the captured Earth Ninjas.
The Thunder Rangers derive their powers from the techniques taught at the Thunder Ninja Academy, with brothers Blake Bradley & Hunter Bradley being given their Thunder Morphers prior to their school being captured by Lothor.
The Green Samurai Ranger derives his powers from his mother’s Samurai Amulet, which he obtained when he traveled to the past.
These powers are all absorbed by Lothor after he obtains the Samurai Amulet and are lost when Lothor is sealed into the Abyss Of Evil by the Wind Rangers.
However, the Wind Rangers, Thunder Rangers & Green Samurai Ranger are able to morph one last time after they retrieve the Samurai Amulet from the Abyss Of Evil to fight the combined armies of Mesogog & Lothor with the Dino Rangers.
Tori Hanson (Blue Wind Ranger) is given her powers back by the Sentinel Knight after he forms a team of Veteran Rangers to fight the Evil Alliance formed by Thrax.

Dino Rangers
(Dino Gems)
The Dino Rangers take their powers from the Dino Gems, five powerful gems created by the Morphin’ Master, Master Red and were created as potential power sources for future teams of Power Rangers.
The Dino Gems somehow find their ways into a meteor that caused the extinction of the dinosaurs, which also embedded some of their DNA inside each gem.
Three Dino Gems find their way into the possession of Tommy Oliver, which bonds with three of his students, making them Dino Rangers, who protect them from Mesogog, a reptilian scientist that desires to use them to bring Earth back to the Era Of The Dinosaurs.
The last two Dino Gems are found by Mesogog, with the Black Dino Gem being taken by Tommy Oliver and the White Dino Gem corrupting Trent Mercer for a short time.
The Dino Gems are drained completely after the Dino Rangers use all of their power to destroy Mesogog.
However, when three of the Dino Rangers are sent to the future, the Dino Gems are recharged by the weapons dealer, Broodwing but are stolen by the Dino Rangers, who use them to fight an army of Krybots with the SPD Rangers before returning to the present.
The Dino Gems somehow regain their powers once again due to all five Dino Rangers using these powers in future battles.

B-Squad SPD Rangers
The B-Squad Rangers powers are created by Space Patrol Delta, a universal police organization, with the B-Squad Rangers specifically having their powers created by cat-like alien scientist, Katherine Manx.
After the B-Squad defeats the Troobian Empire, various team members leave and others are raised up the ranks in colors.
Bridge Carson, the former Green SPD Ranger who becomes the Blue SPD Ranger is revealed to have become the Red SPD Ranger when he is recruited by Sentinel Knight to join the team of Veteran Rangers to fight Thrax and his Evil Alliance.

Mystic Force Rangers
(Good Magic)
The Mystic Force Rangers derive their powers from the magic wands of the five Mystic Wizards who sacrificed themselves to seal The Morlocks into The Underworld during The Great Battle.
Five young adults from Briarwood prove themselves to the sorceress Udonna, becoming the Mystic Rangers and are eventually successful in destroying the Master Of The Underworld, Octomus.
Their powers continue to remain intact, with Xander Bly (Green Mystic Ranger) being recruited to join a team of Veteran Rangers formed by Sentinel Knight to fight Thrax and his Evil Alliance.

 Overdrive Rangers
(Hartford Industries)
The powers of the Overdrive Rangers are created by Hartford Industries after Andrew Hartford is instructed by the Sentinel Knight to form a team to hunt down the Jewels Of The Corona Aurora.
This team consists of four humans, his robot son and an alien that are successful in obtaining all the jewels and defeating all the various alien factions that were also after the jewels.
The powers of the Overdrive Rangers remain intact though dormant since the defeat of Flurious.

Jungle Fury Rangers
(Animal Spirits)
The powers of Jungle Fury Rangers are a mix of technology created by an acquaintance of Pai Zhuq Wolf Master, RJ in conjunction with Pai Zhuq Animal Spirits.
The Three Dai Shi Guardians become the first three Jungle Fury Ranger, who fight Dai Shi and his army of Rinshi Beasts.
They are later joined by their mentor RJ and Pai Zhuq Rhino Student, Dominic Hargan.
The Jungle Fury Rangers are successful in destroying Dai Shi for good, with their powers remaining intact though dormant since the defeat of Dai Shi.

Ranger Series Operators
(Bio-Field)
The powers of the Ranger Series Operators are created by child prodigy, Doctor K, who is able to hack into the Morphin’ Grid, which she named the Bio-Field in her dimension.
Doctor K created the powers of the Ranger Series Operators by mixing Animal DNA with vehicles, first recruiting three heroes in the Battle Of Corinth to become her first Ranger Series Operators to defend Corinth from future Venjix Attacks.
She later recruits Hybrid, Dillon to become Ranger Operator Series Black and is begrudgingly forced to make Ziggy Grover Ranger Operator Series Green.
They are later joined by Gem & Gemma, Doctor K’s friends at Alphabet Soup who were thought to have perished in the think tank.
After the supposed defeat of Venjix, the Ranger Series Operators give their morphers back to Doctor K until they are needed once again.
Scott Truman (Ranger Operator Series Red) dons these powers again to team up with the Samurai Rangers in the Main Dimension to fight Professor Cog.
Gemma (Ranger Operator Series Silver) regains her powers to team up with various multi-dimensional Power Rangers to fight Lord Draven and his Ranger Clone Army.

Samurai Rangers
(Symbol Power)
The powers of the Samurai Rangers originate in Ancient Japan, where five Samurai Warriors from the Shiba Clan are able to draw out energy from the Morphin’ Grid through Symbol Power to fight demonic creatures known as Nighlok.
This technique is passed down from parent to child, where these warriors eventually become the Samurai Rangers.
The 18th Generation of the Shiba Clan is successful in destroying the Nighlok after destroying their leader, Master Xandred.
The Samurai Rangers powers remain intact after the defeat of the Nighlok, with Mike (Green Samurai Ranger), Emily (Yellow Samurai Ranger) & Antonio Garcia (Gold Samurai Ranger) using these powers for future battles.

Megaforce Rangers
(Power Cards)
The Megaforce Rangers derive their powers from Power Cards created by the celestial being, Gosei, who gives them to five teenagers from Harwood County to fight The Warstar.
The Megaforce Rangers also derive their powers from three element, Sky (Red & Pink), Land (Black & Yellow) & Sea (Blue).
Despite being given upgraded powers, the Megaforce Rangers continues to use these powers in less difficult fights and remains intact after the Legendary Battle.
Gia Moran (Yellow Megaforce Ranger) uses these powers to team up with various multi-dimensional Power Rangers to fight Lord Draven and his Ranger Clone Army.

Super Megaforce Rangers
(Ranger Keys)
The power of the Super Megaforce Rangers are heightened power sets given to the Megaforce Rangers by Gosei after the arrival of The Armada.
These powers also gives the Super Megaforce Rangers the ability to assume forms and powers of other Power Rangers when they insert a Ranger Key into their Legendary Morpher.
The Andrasian, Orion also has similar powers to the Super Megaforce Ranger, donning the powers of the Silver Super Megaforce Ranger
The powers of the Super Megaforce Rangers remain intact after The Legendary Battle but have laid dormant since The Legendary Battle

Dino Charge Rangers
(Energems)
The Dino Charge Rangers derive their powers from the Energems, ten powerful gems created by the Morphin’ Master, Master Green to be used as a potential power source for a future team of Power Rangers.
They are entrusted by the alien, Keeper, who is chased to Earth by the bounty hunter, Sledge, with Keeper entrusting them to ten dinosaurs, where they laid dormant until they are found by various beings throughout time.
The Dino Charge Rangers consists of various beings, including a caveman, a medieval knight, a royal prince and a blue bird-like alien.
The Dino Charge Rangers are successful in defeating various villains who coveted the Energems, including the bounty hunter, Sledge, his employer Lord Arcanon, and the duo Heckyl & Snide.
After traveling back in time to prevent Sledge from killing the dinosaurs, the Energems remain in the custody of Keeper until they are needed by the Dino Charge Rangers once again.
Koda (Blue Dino Charge Ranger) re-obtains the Blue Energem various times to team-up with various multi-dimensional Power Rangers to fight Lord Draven and his Ranger Clone Army and also teams-up with the Ninja Steel Rangers to fight Sledge’s Crew.
The Main Six Dino Charge Rangers later re-obtain their Energems and travel to the Main Dimension to team-up with the Beast Morphers Rangers to fight a resurrected Sledge’s Crew and later team up with the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers & Dino Rangers to fight Goldar Maximus, Snide and Evox piloting the Chimerazord.

Ninja Steel Rangers
(Ninja Nexus Star)
The Ninja Steel Rangers derive their powers from the Ninja Nexus Star, a powerful star created by the Morphin’ Masters, Master Red & Master Green and placed inside the Nexus Prism, which eventually makes its way to Earth and is found by Dane Romero.
The Ninja Nexus Star is eventually sought after by Galvanax, who attempts to steal it until Dane Romero splits it into six pieces, with the six pieces turning into the Ninja Power Stars inside the Nexus Prism.
The Ninja Power Stars remain inside the Nexus Prism for ten years until six teenagers from Summer Cove remove the Ninja Power Stars, becoming the Ninja Steel Rangers.
The original sets of Ninja Powers Stars are destroyed in the fight against Galvanax but are remade stronger after the Nexus Prism is restored and new Ninja Power Stars are forged in Ninja Super Steel.
After the Ninja Steel Rangers successfully defeats Madame Odius, the Ninja Steel Rangers return their Ninja Power Stars to the Nexus Prism, with the Nexus Prism floating away into space to find another planet in need of its power.
The Nexus Prism does eventually return to Earth to give the former Ninja Steel Rangers their powers back after Sledge commandeers the Warrior Dome.
Mick Kanic (Red Ninja Steel Ranger III) is given back his powers by Master Red during the fight on Zordnia.

Beast Morphers Rangers
(Morph-X)
The Beast Morphers Rangers powers are created by child prodigy, Nate Silva after he is able to tap into the Morphin’ Grid to create a synthetic energy source known as Morph-X.
Nate Silva creates the Beast Morphers Rangers powers and weapons by examining old Power Rangers technology collected by Grid Battleforce and creating his own by mixing Morph-X with Animal DNA.
The first three Beast Morphers Rangers take their powers from Cheetah, Gorilla & Jackrabbit DNA while Nate Silva creates his own powers from Mantis DNA and creates a robot/human hybrid named Steel with Scarab DNA.
The Beast Morphers Rangers powers are originally created to defend the Morph-X Towers from various evildoers that might attempt to take Morph-X for nefarious purposes, with that ending up being Evox, who is later revealed to be a small piece of the Venjix Virus.
After Venjix is destroyed for good and the Morph-X Towers are shut down, the Beast Morphers Rangers continue to be active, defending Coral Harbor from aliens and monsters, trapping some in their facilities, including Scrozzle & Lothorn.

Dino Fury Rangers
(Dinohenge)
The powers of the Dino Fury Rangers derive from the Morphin’ Masters turning six dinosaurs into stone statues and using their energy in conjunction with energy from the Morphin’ Grid to turn the Knights Of Rafkon into the Dino Fury Rangers.
Four of the original Dino Fury Rangers were killed in the Great Sporix War while Zayto (Red Dino Fury Ranger) & Aiyon (Gold Dino Fury Ranger) are put into suspended animation.
In present day, four young adults from Pine Ridge join Zayto & Aiyon as the next generation of Dino Fury Rangers, fighting and containing Sporix Beasts around Pine Ridge while also attempting to defeat The Voids & Lord Zedd.
After successfully defeating The Voids and containing all the Sporix Beast at the expense of Zayto’s life, the Dino Fury Rangers power remain active, with the exception of a resurrected Zayto, who has been given a new white suit after being revived by the Morphin’ Masters to inform his teammates that they must fight a recently escaped Lord Zedd, with these powers being destroyed for good after Lord Zedd destroys Dinohenge.

Cosmic Fury Rangers
(Cosmic Orbs)
The Cosmic Fury Rangers derive their powers from Cosmic Orbs, mystical orbs bestowed to the former Dino Fury Rangers from the Morphin’ Grid after Billy Cranston opens up a portal to it with the Master Staff. They use the Cosmic Orbs in conjunction with the Cosmic Morphers created by Billy Cranston to morph into the Cosmic Fury Rangers. The Cosmic Fury Rangers seem to still have access to their powers after defeating Lord Zedd & Squid Ink Inc.
