The Power Rangers Multiverse

Ray's Ramblings

The Power Rangers Universe, though simple at first glance, is a bit more complicated than you think. Power Rangers has introduced various universes through seasons being in their own universe, movies, comics and even universes within comics being in their own universes. In this article, I will be listing the various universes throughout the Power Rangers Multiverse.

Universe #1 – Prime Universe
The Prime Universe is the main universe where most events occur in the Power Rangers Timeline. These events are shown in the original show continuity, starting at Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers and ending with Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, with various characters and teams showing up in other seasons. However, these are two seasons that occur outside the Prime Universe, that being Power Rangers RPM & Power Rangers Dino Charge. Despite taken place outside the Prime Universe, characters from these two dimension are shown to be able to travel to the Prime Universe through the use of a Transportal Device or a random Subway Train in Harwood County.

Universe #2 – Pilot Universe
The Pilot Universe tells a similar story to that of Day Of The Dumpster, with the exception of a few aesthetic and name differences.

Pilot Trini
Trini Kwan, who is played Thuy Trang in the Prime Universe, is played by Audri Dubois in this universe.

Zoltar & Alpha 5
Zordon is known as Zoltar in this universe and looks completely different, while Alpha 5 has the same name but also looks completely different.

Universe #3 – ’95 Movie Universe
The 95 Movie Universe is similar to the Prime Universe, with the exception of some characters and some aesthetic changes. These include the suits being more armor-like rather than spandex, Zordon being a white head instead of blue, Alpha 5 being taller and shinier and Rita, Zedd & Goldar having small aesthetic changes.

Ivan Ooze
Ivan Ooze is an exclusive character in this universe, having no counterpart in the Prime Universe.

Dulcea
Duclea is the Ninjor equivalent in this universe, guiding the Power Rangers in gaining their Ninjetti powers.

Mordant
Mordant is a fusion of Finster, Squatt & Baboo due to these three characters not existing in this universe.

Universe #4 – Goldust Dimension
The Goldust Dimension is a universe Tori Hanson visits in “The Wild Wipeout”, where the morality of its characters are reversed. The Wind Rangers, Thunder Rangers & Green Samurai Ranger are all evil, while the Evil Space Ninjas are all good.

Universe #5 – RPM Universe
The RPM Universe is a universe, though connected to the Morphin’ Grid, doesn’t have a team of Power Rangers until Doctor K hacks into it and calls it the Bio-Field. After hacking into the Bio-Field, she creates the Ranger Series Operator powers and accidentally unleashes a sentient computer virus named Venjix onto the world. He successfully takes over the world, with the exception of the Dome City Of Corinth, which is defended by the RPM Rangers until Venjix is defeated and trapped within the Morphin’ Grid.

Universe #6 – Dino Charge Universe
The Dino Charge Universe is the home of the Energems, ten powerful gems that are bonded to ten Dinosaurs by Keeper sixty five million years ago before they were wiped out by Sledge’s Asteroids. The Energems are later bonded with ten various humans and aliens to become the Dino Charge Rangers to protect the Energems from various aliens that desire them to gain ultimate power. The Dino Charge Universe was once similar to the Prime Universe until the Dino Charge Rangers use their powers to time travel to defeat Sledge in the past, which inevitably reverses all the events of the season, including the extinction of the dinosaurs.

Universe #7 – Boom! Studios Universe
The Boom Comics takes the characters from Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers and upgraded them as present-day teenagers. The story is also vastly different from the one told in the television series, which includes new characters like Matthew Cook, Kimberly Hart’s boyfriend before Tommy Oliver, Grace Sterling, the Red Ranger of Zordon’s team from 1969 and Lady Fienna, Rita Repulsa’s mother who was once a good sorceress. This universe also includes different character dynamics, which includes Jason Lee Scott & Trini Kwan switching powers temporarily and becoming a couple and giving brand new backstories to Goldar, Finster, Squatt & Baboo. This universe also featured Power Rangers from multiple universes and timelines teaming up to defeat an evil version of Tommy Oliver named Lord Drakkon.

Universe #8 – World Of The Coinless
The World Of The Coinless is a dimension where Tommy Oliver stayed evil after the Sword Of Darkness was destroyed by Jason Lee Scott. Due to him staying evil, Tommy Oliver eventually takes over his world and successfully kills Billy Cranston & Jason Lee Scott. He also steals their powers and creates an army of Ranger Sentries, ranger-like soldiers that Lord Drakkon uses as his personal army. The survivors of Lord Drakkon’s wrath formed The Coinless, a resistance that fights against Lord Drakkon’s tyranny which includes Zack Taylor, Trini Kwan, Bulk, Skull and Aisha Campbell. Kimberly Hart was a former member of The Coinless until Lord Drakkon brainwashed her and made her the Ranger Slayer, a twisted version of the Pink Ranger.

Universe #9 – 2017 Movie Universe
The 2017 Movie Universe is similar to Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers but in a very minuscule way. Characters from MMPR are in this universe but are racially, personality and aesthetically different. The suits for one are armor-like, similar to the 95 movie universe but unlike those suits, these suits manifest on the Power Rangers like a second skin. The zords are also vastly different, having bug-like features with the Mastodon Dinozord having multiple legs, similar to that of a spider. Character-wise, Zordon & Rita Repulsa are shown to have vastly different stories. Rita Repulsa, in particular, is the original Green Ranger and is more of a fighter than a sorceress.

Universe #10 – Hyperforce Universe
The Hyperforce Dimension is an alternate take on Power Ranger Time Force and is also an alternate continuation of Power Rangers Time Force. The Hyperforce Rangers travel this alternate dimensions timeline, changing things around and having characters from this dimension have different stories. Jen Scotts for one is the teacher and mentor to this team and Nadira is the fiancee and later wife of Joe Shih, the Silver Time Force Ranger and later Green Hyperforce Ranger.

Universe #11 – The Antiverse
The Antiverse is the home of Lord Draven and is where he drains captured Power Rangers of their powers to create a Ranger Clone Army to take the other universes. It is also the location of where the Super Ninja Steel Rangers and various Veteran Rangers team up to destroy Lord Draven and his Ranger Clone Army.

Universe #12 – The Void
The Void is a dimension that was chosen by a Morphin’ Master to disconnect from the Morphin’ Grid in order to destroy the Morphin’ Grid. Due to it being disconnected from the Morphin’ Grid, this universe is unable to sustain a team of Power Rangers, with the exception of the Solar Ranger, who is able to morph and steal Morphin’ Grid energy from other sources. The Void is later reconnected to The Morphin’ Grid after the defeat of The Praetor and the universe gains a team of Solar Rangers to defend it from various bad guys.

Universe #13 – The Cyber Dimension
The Cyber Dimension is a red-skied dimension that was the home of the robotic creature, Scrozzle before Evox and his Dark Avatar were teleported there and took it over. Scrozzle himself traveled himself to the Cyber Dimension in order to hide from the creature, Vargoyle.

Universe #14 – The Crystal Dimension
The Cyber Dimension is a yellow-skied dimension containing many crystals that Evox’s Crew used as their base of operations after the Beast Morphers Rangers found the location of the Cyber Dimension.
